Wish List

It's my 29th birthday at the end of October. My last year of being a '20 something'! Eek! Here's a little peek at my birthday pressie wish list (ready to send shameless hints to family in the very near future!) Not that I need an excuse to have a list of 'wants' but the good thing about a birthday is that it's very possible to tick them all off! Yay!

I've tried this beanie on in Accessorize and it is the perfect floppy beanie hat! Liking the neutral colour too.

I've been a slave to Ugg Boots for umpteen years now but recently I've been happy to part with them in exchange for a Primark pump. Thinking of treating myself to these Converse, although they might not be a practical colour with the wet weather we're prone to in these parts!

I've read some raving reviews about this and with perfect wedding skin praying on my mind I need all the help I can get. This is the primer of choice for oily prone skin and claims to extend make up wear, which is just what I'm after.

What can I say? I must be a marketer's dream! Show me a pretty face and promises of even, improved skin tone and I'm there like a shot!

As I'm thinking I might do my own make up on the wedding day I thought asking for a nice, new set of make up brushes could be a good investment? MAC just seems to be the obvious choice but if anyone has any recommendations on brush sets it would be greatly appreciated!

A new, super long scarf would be lovely for winter. This beauty is knitted by my sister's own fair hand. I fancy a mustard coloured one for myself!

Lastly, I already have the chunky Superdry cardigan that I got from Mr H as an early birthday present. That was a couple of weeks ago though now, so I can live in hope that he's forgotton about that muhaha!

Inspiration Folder - One for the boys

These 2 pictures are taken from the 'Mr H's Suit Ideas' folder on my laptop. There are only 2 pictures in there because I love them so much no others have yet to trump them! Luckily for me Mr H is equally fond of them.

rockmywedding.com - Suits by Zegna I believe

Google Images - Carrier bags not part of the look!

The idea is slim fitting, black suits with a bow tie. My dad and the best man will also be following suit but we have shared these pictures with all the men in the wedding party as the more the merrier in our opinion! We would love to re-create the look of the top picture! It just seems to work with the whole Vegas wedding thing. Maybe a bit Rat Pack perhaps?

5 Good Things

I pinched this idea after seeing it on my sister's blog Lily Loves Lola.

Hope she doesn't mind!

First off , I've been quiet on the post front I know! Both me and Mr H have been poorly all week. Not to put you off your cocoa but it's a full of cold/runny nose/temperature thing. Been on the Lemsips for 2 days and starting to feel human again, thank goodness! Here are 5 Good Things to look on the bright side!

1) My mum is coming to visit on Saturday which I'm excited about. Plan on showing her the sights here on the Isle of Man - hopefully the weather will stay nice! Will also do a bit of shopping which leads me to....

2) Got my first wedding dress shopping appointment on Monday 3rd and will be taking mum along. I booked the appointment weeks ago and now it's round the corner I'm so excited!

3) One of my closest friends and her boyfriend just booked a holiday to Las Vegas so they will be coming to our wedding. I really, really hoped she would go but I was aware it was a big ask. I'm over the moon that  they can make it!

4) We finished watching Season One of 'The Borgias' series this week. I won't give anything away in case people are still watching or plan to watch it. I will however say that it is fab and one of my new favourites! I strongly recommend you give it a go! On a sour note, I loved it so much I miss it now!

5) I got a phone call today inviting me for a second interview at a Veterinary Surgery here on the Island. It's a reception/vet support position so it could be interesting! It's very hard for me to find work here as I need a work permit and I don't really qualify very easily. It's not an offer of course but it's a step in the right direction as lots of 'no thanks' letters can really get you down!

What are your good things this week?

Hair raising adventure

Just been packing for Liverpool. We are only taking hand luggage. This is always a saga for me. Packing light is not my forte! We are flying this evening and fingers crossed we leave on time to so we can factor in a nice tea somewhere tonight. Really looking forward to it, especially the opportunity for a little bit of retail therapy!

The purpose of our visit will be revealed soon, although there is a clue in the title! Bye for now everyone! x

Begin at the beginning

Here is the story of 'us'. I've read a lot of these up to date and must admit, I feel slightly the odd one out. I don't have a romantic tale of eyes meeting across a crowded room, or how we were friends for years then fate brought us together against the odds. Nope, none of that. We met at work. He was a chartered accountant and I was an administrator.

Still reading?

Mr H is what you would have described as the office's big character. The loud mouth, the joker. I was the quiet, polite, speak-when-spoken-to office dogs body. He was my idea of a nightmare. To start with our conversations revolved mainly around my choice of work outfit ('explain this pirate look Adele'), work shoes ('did you borrow those from Bet Lynch?') and my daily showcasing of 'comedy earrings'. I can laugh about it now but at the time I very did nearly retire the Bet Lynch leopard print pumps for fear of ridicule!

Fast forward a few months and I found myself starting to sway. Rather than see the joker and the bad gaffs I saw Mr H as someone supremely confident and laugh-til-you-cry funny, which I now found super attractive. I came out of my shell more and more and started to banter back, all the while thinking 'hmmm I think I really like this guy!'

Let's fast forward again and a work's Summer do finally put an end to all the secret admiration on both sides. After a bit of dancing and copious amounts of beer Mr H put his cards on the table and said he really liked me, or to set the scene a bit better (beer breath and slurring words) I weeeealllly like you, hick! This was great! So great I couldn't care if we were providing the gossips with their entertainment for the evening!

A couple of weeks later I left the company to attempt some sort of career advancement at the hospital (very short lived) but we kept seeing each other and enjoyed a first date to Scarborough for the day. Walking and talking and eating fish and chips in the sunshine on the sea front. I flashed Mr H my biggest, toothy smile and he said his heart melted there and then. I said, 'never mind that, 'av I got any chips stuck in me teeth?' He thought he'd never met anyone like me before. So pretty to look at....but so uncouth when I opened my mouth!

5 years on and here we are. We've had lots of adventures since and our fair share of ups and downs. Life is all about the ups and downs though, you don't jump off at the first hurdle. I hope you have enjoyed our very average story. It is extremely nerve wracking putting it out there for reading, but now you know the beginning and how we came to arrive at the most exciting time our of journey through life together...the wedding!

Eating. One of our favourite pastimes.

Hey it's that big, toothy smile again! Vegas May 11

Mr H will really not appreciate this one going on!

Manchester

Well we're now back from a great weekend back in Leeds/Manchester. Friday night in Manchester was fab! It's nice when all the family are together again for a while. We stayed at the Radisson Edwardian which was a lovely hotel and the location was great! We were in walking distance of Chaophraya where we had our meal and then another short walk to the MEN Arena for Alan Carr! Perfect.

Alan Carr was brilliant, so blooming funny! At one point I thought my dad might fall off his chair! If any of you like him and you get chance to go, you must!

Apols for the crap picture! We had great seats though!
We're only back in Isle of Man for a few days then we're off away again on Thursday for a couple of nights! Talk about 'all go'. We're going to Liverpool for reasons I shall explain in a later post. We actually arrive on Thursday evening and home again Saturday morning so that only really leaves Friday for exploring. I've never been before so if any of you have any recommendations for places to go, do let me know! Especially if it's shopping related. Not sure we'll get chance to do that much but just in case!
