Begin at the beginning

Here is the story of 'us'. I've read a lot of these up to date and must admit, I feel slightly the odd one out. I don't have a romantic tale of eyes meeting across a crowded room, or how we were friends for years then fate brought us together against the odds. Nope, none of that. We met at work. He was a chartered accountant and I was an administrator.

Still reading?

Mr H is what you would have described as the office's big character. The loud mouth, the joker. I was the quiet, polite, speak-when-spoken-to office dogs body. He was my idea of a nightmare. To start with our conversations revolved mainly around my choice of work outfit ('explain this pirate look Adele'), work shoes ('did you borrow those from Bet Lynch?') and my daily showcasing of 'comedy earrings'. I can laugh about it now but at the time I very did nearly retire the Bet Lynch leopard print pumps for fear of ridicule!

Fast forward a few months and I found myself starting to sway. Rather than see the joker and the bad gaffs I saw Mr H as someone supremely confident and laugh-til-you-cry funny, which I now found super attractive. I came out of my shell more and more and started to banter back, all the while thinking 'hmmm I think I really like this guy!'

Let's fast forward again and a work's Summer do finally put an end to all the secret admiration on both sides. After a bit of dancing and copious amounts of beer Mr H put his cards on the table and said he really liked me, or to set the scene a bit better (beer breath and slurring words) I weeeealllly like you, hick! This was great! So great I couldn't care if we were providing the gossips with their entertainment for the evening!

A couple of weeks later I left the company to attempt some sort of career advancement at the hospital (very short lived) but we kept seeing each other and enjoyed a first date to Scarborough for the day. Walking and talking and eating fish and chips in the sunshine on the sea front. I flashed Mr H my biggest, toothy smile and he said his heart melted there and then. I said, 'never mind that, 'av I got any chips stuck in me teeth?' He thought he'd never met anyone like me before. So pretty to look at....but so uncouth when I opened my mouth!

5 years on and here we are. We've had lots of adventures since and our fair share of ups and downs. Life is all about the ups and downs though, you don't jump off at the first hurdle. I hope you have enjoyed our very average story. It is extremely nerve wracking putting it out there for reading, but now you know the beginning and how we came to arrive at the most exciting time our of journey through life together...the wedding!

Eating. One of our favourite pastimes.

Hey it's that big, toothy smile again! Vegas May 11

Mr H will really not appreciate this one going on!
